Ways to Use Herbs

Herbs are beautiful to look at and fun to grow, but what can you do with them? Here are some simple ways to use herbs to get maximum enjoyment from their healing properties:

Aromatherapy uses the oils from plants and herbs, trees and flowers to create or sustain your health and wellness. Depending on the type of oil and plant used, aromatherapy oils can be inhaled, massaged into your skin, or added to tea for drinking.

Cooking with fresh herbs is the easiest way to bring more health and flavor into your family's life. You can use fresh herbs, or infuse your own herbal cooking oils.

Drinking herbal tea is an easy way to enjoy the taste and and receive the health benefits of an herb. Of course how you drink your tea (mindfully or casually) plays a big part in how much the benefits you.

Make healing herb candles to scent your environment or simply release the proper herbal energies into your living space.

Massage yourself or someone you love. Massage with herbal oils (mixed with a proper carrier oil) gives you the benefit of the herb's innate properties and allows the "healing touch" to work its magic, too.

Simple herbal wines are easy to make if you start with a bottle of wine from the store.  If you want wine from scratch, you'll have quite a bit of work on your hands.  Plus, you will have to wait through the months of fermenting, and pay for the required tools and equipment.

Making your own herbal vinegars is a creative way to add your favorite herbs (and their medicinal qualities) to your dishes.

Herbalism is the use of plants and their extracts to treat or cure illnesses of the mind and body. There are numerous ways to practice Herbalism.

You can prepare herbs for medicinal purposes in a variety of ways. Always check with your doctor or herbal practitioner before medicating yourself or your children with herbs.
