If Mama Ain’t Happy...

Do you know what you want? I mean what YOU want. What is burning in your soul for yourself? So many times you have gone after what other people want, or what would be "best" for you. But that deep yearning remains, even if you won't even acknowledge its existence.

Before you know it, stress, depression, anxiety, and the feeling of "what was I supposed to be doing again?!" begin to surface. You may be able to squelch the yearning, but you cannot squelch the symptoms that suppressing the yearning causes.

If you could only admit to yourself that it is okay to go after what you want. It is all right to work towards our innermost desires! But you don't. You let it fester within you and eventually blame all of the other things and people around you for your own unhappiness.

Stand Up for Yourself

Take all of your excuses and throw them out the window. It is time to reclaim that part of you that you have allowed to be buried for so long. What good is it doing for you and those you love to NOT do what you are meant to be doing? How happy are you NOT doing what you want to do?

Imagine a world where not only are your “duties” taken care of, but where you renew your Self on a daily basis. A world where you do what you love, and it makes you truly happy and energized. Isn’t that really what is best not only for you, but for the ones you love? A happy you, wife, and mom?

Do you know what makes you come alive? (If you do, then you are a step ahead of many other women!) Perhaps you enjoyed painting as a kid, but in the time that has passed between then and now, you have grown into a different person.

If you do not know what it is that makes you happy, don't worry - that's okay too! Whether you never really knew what ignited your fire, or your coals are burning with a different fuel source these days, finding what really matters to you will be fun!

What's Your Passion?

What do you tend to think about after the kids are in bed, your hubby is watching TV, and the bills are paid? What section of the library or bookstore do you gravitate towards? Whose life do you envy? What have you always wanted to try? All of the answers to these questions are a spring board to finding your passion.

Perhaps you read those questions and are left scratching your head without a clue as to what makes you tick. There is a tried and true method to rediscovering your passion. Write it out. Pick up a spiral notebook or an elaborate journal and start writing. Write about the fact that you don’t know what to write about! Trust me, you will find your passion.

You know it is important to take time for yourself to explore your desires, and you have learned how to find those passions. So now you need to know how to find the time to actually indulge yourself. No problem!

Find the Time

Simply put, Find The Time! It's there if you're willing to put yourself a little higher up on your list! If your kids can walk, they can do chores. Organize your life so you are not constantly bombarded with a never-ending list of “to-do's." Quit making excuses and make it happen.

Harsh? Perhaps, but as women we are always putting our loved ones and our daily tasks before ourselves. It is time to change that. Take back the most important person in your life. Yourself.
