Has Fear Grabbed Your Apron Strings? You’re a mom – a really good mom! You wipe your child’s nose with your fingers, you sing to her, you bathe her and cover her eyes when you rinse the shampoo from her little head, and you do your best to make sure she is getting all of her nutrients on a daily basis. At the end of the day, you are exhausted! It happens to all of us.
But what about those days when you actually have some energy left after your little one is asleep? What do you do then? If you are like many moms, you may make yourself a warm cup of tea, plop on the couch, and maybe paint your nails. After all, you deserve it, right?!
Now let’s take a journey back in time. A journey back to the years before your husband, before kids,...before all of the responsibilities of being a wife, a mother, and an adult.
What Were Your Dreams?
Perhaps writing a book, or making candles to sell, even starting your own business. What ever happened to those dreams? It seems that living life seems to get in the way of our dreams to often. Has that happened to you?
What if on those nights when you have some spare energy, you were to begin to re-focus on those lost dreams. You have probably thought about it. Then life gives you a big smack in the face and again, those dreams go on the back burner.
But WHY?!
We often tell ourselves it is because we don’t have the time, the money, or maybe even the talent to succeed. But is that the real reason? No. The real reason is fear. Fear of failure.
How embarrassing would it be to put yourself out into the world only for things not to work out? On the other hand, how wonderful and uplifting would it be to put yourself out there and succeed?!
Think of your child. What would you want her to choose? You always tell her that she can be whatever she wants to be – and you believe what you are telling her! You would support her and be right beside her all the way.
What about your mom? I am willing to bet that she told you the exact same thing; and she would be right beside you the whole way. And we all know, when your mom is with you, you can achieve anything!
What is stopping you from going after those dreams? Is it that the big hands of fear have grabbed your apron strings and won’t let you move forward?
There is a way out of this. Turn your dreams into goals. Make a plan. The more solid your plan becomes, the smaller the hands of fear become; and before long, you will reach behind you, untie those apron strings and take off running.
After all… you deserve it!
