Fake It 'Til You Make It

There was a time that I visualized everything good that I wanted to happen to me in the future. I was going to be healthy by this time next year. I was going to be more spiritually open by this time next month. I spent a lot of time thinking about what was going to happen for me in the future.

That worked all right. It gave me a temporary high...something to look forward to. However, there was something missing between now and what I wanted to create. What was missing was conscious effort and imagination. I merely wish-visualized.

Sometimes I achieved what I wished for, but most of the time I was frustrated. I found myself failing to achieve the successes I wanted for my life.

Wishing or Manifesting?

When conscious effort is missing from your visualization, you are simply wishing. Sometimes your wishes come true, and sometimes they don't. Wishes depend entirely on outside forces; it can take a long time for the universe to get every outside force synchronized to meet up with you in the future!

However, there is a way to visualize for the future in the now. It's simple - you take the future out of the equation, and you add as many sensory details as you can to the present moment. You create what you want for yourself right now, in your imagination.

I am writing right now. I want this message to clarify itself for me and you (you see, eventually, there will be a "you" here - because that's what I want). I am feeling my fingers type on the keyboard, but I am seeing you.

You're mildly interested, your head is tilted. You're waiting to find something, anything, that is going to spark you into the motion of thought and propel you creatively. (gee, that's a lot of pressure to put on me, now isn't it?) So maybe, just maybe, I'm heading in the wrong direction here.

You see, if you can't imagine something comfortably, then it's not where you need to be - now or later.

Hmmm. Okay. I'm imagining you. (What scent are you wearing? I smell jasmine.) A little Norah Jones is playing in the background.

My shoulders are relaxed, and my body is stable in the chair. You are easing into the conversation...revealing a little about yourself...wondering about how to get you life heading in the right direction.

It already is. You are exactly where you need to be to learn a new technique that pulls your senses into mindfulness. You can smell, sense, see, hear and even taste things that are not in front of you right now physically, but they are in your mind's eye. That makes them real.

No one can tell you they aren't there, because you see them. You smell, hear, feel and taste them. They're here.

You Attract What You Think

These things that you want for yourself "in the future" are already available to you now. By imagining these things in the present, you create the environment for them to appear. You attract what you think...so attract the physical by deeply sensing through the imagination what the physical actually feels like NOW. Manifest what you want for the future in your mind's eye right now.

When you're finished imagining, allow your imaginary bits to remain. If you imagined a new car in the drive, then walk around it when you go outside. (You couldn't walk through a physical car, would you?) Let these things and feelings you imagined hold a place around you or INSIDE of you now.

Imagine your desire every day. What it looks like, what it smells like, how you treat it, how you touch it...Make room for it. Your thoughts will attract physical objects LIKE themselves because like attracts like. You already hold what you desire...all you have to do is create a space for it to manifest.
