Eat this way. Exercise that way. Lose weight our way! With all the TV infomercials and celebrity endorsements, who knows which way to lose weight and regain your health is the “right” way for you?

The answer is…YOU know (or will discover) the ‘right’ way to lose weight for yourself! But first you must choose to lose the weight. If you feel the need to follow someone else’s program, choose any program, or try them all!

Choose the 'Right' Weight Loss Program

Let me rephrase that. Choose ALMOST any one of those weight loss programs. Do not consider for a second any weight loss plan that seems to good to be true, limits your nutritional intake to certain types of food, includes exercises that demand physical activity beyond your current limitations, and exercise plans that actually hurt your body (either in theory or as you move). All of the other diet and exercise programs are up for grabs! Still, you are faced with which diet and exercise program to pick.

Which one feels right to you? If there is a weight loss group or program that calls you so very loudly, by all means CHOOSE IT! Maybe it will be the perfect solution for you. Perhaps, it will not be perfect for you, but it could be the one that will motivate you to continue on your weight loss journey.

Most weight loss programs will show you how choosing to do healthy activities and making sound nutritional choices for yourself will lead to a leaner, healthier body. Popular weight loss programs most always have some value. The trick is discovering what aspects of the program work for you and which aspects of the program leave you feeling guilty, disappointed, or hopeless.

Tweak Your Chosen Weight Loss Program

The key to working with popular diet and fitness programs is in the process of learning which exercises and what healthy foods most benefit and appeal to you. Many program dieters allow themselves to ‘fall off the wagon’ and ‘fail’ the program because they do not realize one thing: choosing to diverge from the diet program is not ‘failure’. Sure, you quit following the rules for a period of indulgence, but one ‘wrong’ choice does not equal failure.

One choice that diverges from your program is a sign to you that something about the program is too strict, too demanding, too something…. Do some thinking as to why you were motivated to make that ‘divergent choice’ and remove that motivation from your physical fitness and weight loss program.

Weight Loss is a Process of Creating Habit

When it comes to the weight loss process, the secret is to find a way to make healthy choices become habit. If a popular diet and exercise program motivates you to change your habits and thinking – great! If your motivation comes from a healthy eating guide like the American Heart Association and your local gym – perfect! If it comes from a little here and a little there – superb!

Any system (or combination of systems) will change your body and your mind if you enjoy and feel motivated by it. Is this going to take work? You betcha! Is it going to be hard? Only if you allow your success or failure to be determined by what one program says is right!

The Bottom Line

The key to weight loss is simply to eat healthy foods, limit unhealthy choices, and exercise. Period. There is no other way around it, and any program promising rapid weight loss with diet pills or a one-solution-fits-all plan is based on a lie.
